That's some real pleasant imagery the Senate invokes there.

A certain Chinese parable proceeds thusly: "The mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the sparrow behind it." In some versions, the bird is translated as "oriole", but I'm pretty sure the original text just means "sparrow". Anyway, there's also some guy trying to shoot the sparrow with a bow and arrow, but he ended up having an existential crisis over the situation and also the fact that he would've gotten screwed over by the gamekeeper as well.

This has very little to do with the page. It's just that I remembered the parable by chance and decided to use a mantis as the example painting. If we had to apply the parable somewhere, which I'm reluctant to do because interspecies analogies often fall short, I could say that Kalo was not being careful enough about his personal safety during his quest for material profit. Is Rishen being overly careless on some level as well? We'll have to see, because I don't know yet myself.
